NEW: PWDs commend forex allocations

Online Reporter

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs) have welcomed the weekly US$50 allocations from bureaux de change across the country, saying the move helps in ensuring financial inclusivity.

Founder and general manager of Faith, Love and Community Trust, Mr Terrence Nyamazana, said the initiative is in line with Vision 2030, which seeks to ensure that “no one is left behind.”

“The collection of US$50 at the bureaux de exchange for people with disability is a very good improvement towards the financial inclusivity system, in which we do not want to leave anyone behind,” he said.

“The benefits of this service are neutralising the effects of the black market.”

Mr Nyamazana also implored Government to ensure that bureaux de change facilities are easily accessible to PWDs.

“One challenge that we are facing as PWDs is that most of the bureaux de exchange are located in towns, and they are not easily accessible to people with disability, therefore an extra hand is sometimes needed,” he added.

“The bureaux de exchange should be built in a way that those who have wheel chairs can easily move without much assistance.”
