PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has appointed outgoing Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor Dr John Mangudya to the position of chief executive officer of the Mutapa Investment Fund, while prominent banker Dr John Mushayavanhu will assume the position of central bank governor.
Dr Mangudya is set to end his tenure at the central bank on April 30 2024.
In a statement on Friday, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya announced the appointments.
“His Excellency the President Mnangagwa has in terms of Section 8 (b) (1) of the Sovereign Wealth Fund Act (Chapter 22:20) appointed Dr John Panonetsa Mangudya to the post of chief executive officer of the Mutapa Investment Fund.
“Dr Mangudya’s 10-year term of office at the helm of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe ends on April 30 2024 in terms of Section 15 (3) of the RBZ Act (Chapter 22:15).”
The Mutapa Investment Fund (formerly known as the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Zimbabwe) is the country’s sovereign wealth fund formulated by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Act.
Dr Rushwaya said Dr Mangudya will be succeeded by Dr John Mushayavanhu as governor of the RBZ.
