MANICA Diamonds returned to winning ways and ended a four-game losing streak after overpowering Harare City 2-0 at Sakubva Stadium, while city rivals, Tenax’s relegation worries were compounded after going down 0-4 away to Triangle in the weekend fixtures.

It was a sweet victory for the Gem Boys’ new coach, Jairos Tapera as he picked his first set of maximum points since taking over from Johanisi Mhumwa and open his account at home on a triumphant note.

The diamond miners remain on 10th position with 42 points from 31 games.

After a promising start to the campaign, which saw them lead the log standings at one time, the wheels appear to have come off and the ambitious side look set to fail to match last season’s fifth-placed finish.

On the other hand, inconsistency returned to haunt Tenax as they suffered a second successive loss after coasting to two wins on the trot in the previous games.

Their wobbly form has left the prisons wardens in real danger of relegation.

They remain in the drop zone with 28 points from 31 games and third from bottom, with three rounds of fixtures to go before the season concludes.

As debutants, Tenax have largely been underwhelming and preserving their Premiership status could turn out to be a tall order for them.
