AFTER two weeks of turmoil in the Dynamos camp, the dust is beginning to settle following the reassignment of under-fire technical team members Richard Chihoro and Murape Murape to manage new portfolios after going through disciplinary hearings yesterday.
The hearings were held behind closed doors and the outcome had not yet been confirmed as of last night.
However, the Zimpapers Sports Hub understands that the decision to reassign the two was reached over the weekend following meetings between the club’s executive and key stakeholders who favoured a peace deal.
As such, the disciplinary hearings yesterday were merely academic.
Chihoro is set to be working as the liaison manager who will be in charge of all the club’s teams. These include the senior team, the women’s side and all junior teams.
This new post for Chihoro, the longest serving member of the technical staff, will see him serving the club in a different position.
Chihoro, who evolved through the DeMbare system from his days as a junior player to representing the senior team and also sitting on the bench, as one of the two assistants to David Mandigora during the mid-2000s, first served the club as team manager back in 2011 before getting reassigned in 2018 for a few months and then bouncing back as the team manager again.
Murape, who was the second assistant coach to Hebert Maruwa from the beginning of the 2023 season, has been deployed to a new role after he was mandated to be the Glamour Boys’ chief scout of the junior teams.
Attempts to contact the club’s leadership were futile.
“The club’s executives have shunned away from the media after reports that there is mistrust between themselves but I can confirm the disciplinary hearing took place and the duo has been re-assigned.
“Members have claimed that commenting on the club’s issues on a club position has been turned to victimise certain individuals.
“However, the decision has already been made and the club is moving forward as they seek to focus on closing the gap between them and log leaders Highlanders,” said a source.
Murape and Chihoro faced possible dismissals from the club after a raft of charges was brought up against them by the management.
Sources close to the Dynamos saga indicated that both Chihoro and Murape have since apologised to the executive committee but were expected to formally express their remorse during the hearing, for any conduct on their part which may have been deemed to have brought the name of the club, its image and that of the sponsors into disrepute.
Chihoro was charged with gross insubordination, alleged extortion, gross incompetence, and bringing the club and its stakeholders into disrepute.
Former Dynamos captain Murape faced allegations of gross insubordination, disruptive and disorderly conduct, violent conduct and allegedly taking substances before and after training sessions.
Both were reportedly taken aback by some of the charges levelled against them.
The fate of head coach Herbert Maruwa, who was initially sacked before the decision was changed to a suspension, was still uncertain as he is yet to appear before the disciplinary committee.
