BLACK RHINOS have appointed former Cranborne Bullets gaffer Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera as head coach.
The army side was relegated from the top-flight at the end of the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League together with Cranborne Bullets, Triangle and Shesham.
Having been demoted to the second-tier league and setting a target for a return to the top-flight at the end of the 2024 season, Black Rhinos are leaving no stone unturned in their endeavour to bounce back into the Premiership.
Following the departure of Saul Chaminuka, who has been linked with a coaching job at newly promoted Bikita Minerals FC, Black Rhinos have since settled for Saruchera.
Black Rhinos vice chairperson Colonel Edward Mutukwa confirmed the latest developments in a statement.
“Black Rhinos, flagship soccer team for the Zimbabwe National Army, wishes to announce the appointment of Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera as the head coach with effect from January 9, 2024,” said Col Mutukwa.
“His mandate is to ensure that the club returns to the elite league in 2025 and transform into one of the most dominant and attractive teams in local football.”
Saruchera will be assisted by Robson Chisango.
The team has retained the bulk of players from last season.
However, players whose contracts lapsed at the end of 2023 are the only ones who left the club.
“The club wishes to advise all that it is not going to release any contracted players save for those whose contracts lapsed on December 31, 2023.
“The newly appointed coach will be given latitude to acquire replacements and strengthen the club to be a force to reckon in the upcoming Division One league,” added Col Mutukwa.
