TWO security guards have been jailed for 10 years each, after they were convicted of stealing 61 kg of aluminum cable along George Road in Harare last November.
Paul Bvuma, a security guard at Willmite Security company and Ishmael Gombo of Seasec Security Company, were jailed when they appeared before Epworth Magistrate Mrs Tafadzwa Miti on Wednesday for unlawful possession of material used in electricity generation.
The duo was sentenced after a full trial.
The State said the duo stole the cable on November 25 last year at around 10.30 pm.
They then hired a kombi to ferry the stolen cable to a potential buyer, before police from Zimbabwe Republic Police Hatfield descended on them, after a tip-off.
