Listed seed manufacturer, Seed-Co Limited has started working with various partners to produce hybrid seeds that are resilient to climate change.

Speaking during a virtual symposium to deliberate on preparedness for the summer cropping season on Tuesday, Seed-Co public relations manager Ms Marjorie Mutemererwa said the new seeds will be made available across the entire country.

“We are coming up with seeds that will suit the climate change that we are experiencing in different regions of Zimbabwe.

“We are inspired by Government’s ambition to achieve a green economy by 2030. Climate change issues have been mainstreamed in all sectors of the economy, so as a seed company, we are playing our part.”

Speaking at the same meeting Seed-Co head of agronomy, Mrs Wendy Madzura, said the company will produce three hybrid seed varieties, namely SC-219, SC-555 and SC-659.
