RISING composer and singer Sekuru Lolo (born Tichaona Musekiwa) will today launch a new album, as the world commemorates Valentine’s Day.
Titled “Takabva Kure”, this will be the Harare Giants Band front-man’s third album.
“Takabva Kure” is an eight-track album, which is made up of songs such as “Vana Vangu,” “Takabva Kure,” “Nguva” and “Tsika Dzedu.”
Sekuru Lolo, who fuses guitars, congas and mbira, was inspired by Marshall Munhumumwe and Zex Manatsa.
“My father used to work at hotels such as Mushandirapamwe and Jamaica Inn.
“Munhumumwe and Manatsa’s bands were at some point resident at the two hotels, and that is when I started to have an active interest in their music,” said Sekuru Lolo.
Musekiwa’s two siblings – Felistus and brother Clement – are pursuing their music careers in the United Kingdom.
Sekuru Lolo dreams of one day doing a collaboration with Zex Manatsa’s son, Tendai.
Apart from “Takabva Kure”, his catalogue includes albums “Kurarama Kwangu” and “Vana Vangu.”
