KUWADZANA Extension-based chanter, Blessing “Baba Beeby” Nyikadzino, says Soul Jah Love’s legacy is in safe hands.
The 22-year-old said he was not moved by his imitation of the late singer.
He started his journey in February last year and has already won the hearts of many.
“I started singing last year after the death of Soul Jah Love.
“I was inspired by his music and he remains my role model.
“I felt his legacy needs to continue, through representation by different chanters.
“I think imitating him makes the music flourish forever.
“I have since sung with Dobba Don as well as Silent Killer,” he said.
Baba Beeby said he was raised in a humble background, which inspires his song writing.
“Hupenyu hwandakararama ndichikura hwairwadza and some of my songs narrate my journey.
“I am trying to explain what I have come across in life and other people I meet.
“The music also describes some other people I meet and also explaining to them some of the challenges we encounter in life.
“His music inspired me, especially when he narrated his hard life.
“So, as I always listened to his music, I ended up singing,” he added.
The chanter said he will continue imitating Soul Jah Love as part of his strategy to mark his breakthrough.
“I was seated with my team in the ghetto where I started imitating Jah Love while having fun before I was invited to the studio.
“I met DJ Stash, who advised me to record, and the journey started.
“My first song is called Ndovaimbira, produced by Chil4real, while my second song, Chenesai Nzira Dzedu was produced by DKT Studio.”
