New stable wants Dube

“We have officially opened a boxing club with Andrew (Smale).
“It’s under the name Delta Force Boxing Club. The gym is recruiting boxers from Zimbabwe and other African countries,” said Musonda.
Musonda is a former boxer with the Zimbabwe National Army club.
He then became a trainer with the Golden Glovez in Zimbabwe but has been holed up is South Africa for the last three years.
“During my stay here in South Africa, I have completed a number of courses in refereeing and judging. I think I have broadened my horizons in the sport of boxing,” said Musonda.
Musonda believes working with Smale who is the World Boxing Organisation’s Africa representative will create more opportunities for Zimbabwe professional boxers.
“It will be a great advantage for the Zimbabwean boxers who come here because I am the head coach.
“So far we have recruited Wesley Macdade who is already a professional from Zimbabwe.
“The stable also has Wisdom Khumalo and Tawanda Mushonga, two Zimbabwean boxers who are likely to turn professional on March 29.
“It is likely that Khumalo and Mushonga will be given exhibition fights and then be confirmed as pros.
“Our gym also has a Zambian boxer by the name Edmore Kanonga and we also have a South African, Temba Lesiba,” said Musonda.
But it is Musonda’s interest in Pan African heavyweight champion Dube that could steer the local champion to greater heights.
“We are still in talks with Dube and hope to bring him here to South Africa.
“If all goes well, he should be here by the end of March but we are still talking to Dube,” said Musonda who is based in Johannesburg.
