NEW: Sunshine Boys get morale booster

HARARE CITY Football Club coach Lloyd Chitembwe has promised his charges will give it their all this season after the club got the morale-boosting visit they needed from City of Harare mayor on Tuesday.

Mayor Stewart Musarurwa Mutizwa addressed the players before their training session at ZB Sports Club, where he pledged support for the football club.

Chitembwe described the visit as a big morale booster for Harare City ahead of their season-opening Chibuku Super Cup clash against ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

City are the most successful team in the Chibuku Super Cup, having featured in the final on four occasions and winning the tournament twice.

“It was quite refreshing to see you (Mayor) here and to the mind it was therapeutic. I want to thank you for the words full of encouragement, for the words not lacking in wisdom, for words full of inspiration,” Chitembwe said.

“God gave us the talent, the same talents to look after us; obviously after us having also looked after the talents.

“How important these talents are to these boys; I have always told them many times. God is not a fool, he gave us these talents to look after; he gave us this talent to work hard so that he blesses those talents.”

The gaffer promised that his team will work hard and give their all in the Chibuku Super Cup.

“I can guarantee we can go out there and work hard and represent the City well. We know we have a duty to do, we leave the rest in the hands of you (Mayor), in the hands of the executive but for us we will do what we can, which is hard work.”

Harare City won the Chibuku Super Cup in 2015 and 2017.

They also reached the final in 2014 when they lost to FC Platinum and in 2018 when they lost to Triangle at Gibbo Stadium.
