NEW: Systems glitch affects birth, death certificate issuance

Online Reporter

THE issuance of birth and death certificates has been temporarily affected by a technical fault at the Registrar-General’s Office.

In a statement, the department said they are working to resolve the problem.

The documents are, however, currently being issued manually.

“The Civil Registry Department wishes to inform its valued clients and stakeholders that it is experiencing technical challenges with its system, which has affected the issuance of birth and death certificates.

“However, these documents are still being issued manually in emergency cases,” reads part of the statement.

Issuance of national identity documents (IDs) and e-passports has not been affected.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage is working on a permanent solution to these intermittent system challenges,” added the Registry Department.
