AS March – Women’s Month – draws to a close, Afro-jazz musician, Robyn Anesu Katahle Dawani, better known as “Tahle We Dzinza” in the music circles, is set to wrap up the commemorations in style.
Tahle is set to perform at the Sam Levy Village, Borrowdale in Harare on Saturday evening.
She will be accompanied by several prominent female artists, such as popular dancer and choreographer, Deborah Kabongo.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Tahle said being a woman means a lot.
“Everyone has come out of a lady’s womb, so we need to celebrate that privilege as women,” she said.
Tahle remembered her early childhood days when her mother inspired her and taught her about music, which is now bearing fruits for her.
“My mother played a critical role especially during my childhood days, she used to teach me every aspect of being a musician and by the age of 15, I was a fine a musician. So, to be a woman is a special privilege because you are the one who mentors the future and career of your child,” she said.
Tahle is a former member of the Military Touch Movement (MTM), the only female to have initially featured on that camp.
With her vocal prowess, she feels that she can thrill the masses.
On Saturday, she is going to churn out her popular hits, the likes of “Give me more”, “Teleunga” and “Ndibhambise tione”.
“My old hits are good enough to entertain the masses and also the event is just for two hours, so we cannot sample the songs, which are a part of our new project,” she told The Sunday Mail.
