THE Ministry of Health and Child Care has introduced a new talk show to unpack mental health issues.

In an interview, Ministry of Health and Child Care spokesperson, Donald Mujiri, said the Ministry has introduced a new feature titled “Health Talks” to unpack various issues affecting the country in an interactive manner.

“We are unpacking mental health, as part of our efforts to curb the number of people who are taking their lives, by suicide.

“We are aware that there is a strong link between suicide and drug and alcohol abuse.

“We have three central hospitals giving free health care services to the general public.”

Mujiri said they were raising awareness on cancer.

“Various topics are coming up, which include cancer in women and children, and we are trying to raise awareness among communities, so that people are well educated.

“To encourage people to participate, during awareness campaigns, we offer prizes to people who ask questions.

“We hope this will be a permanent feature, where we can take it as far as rural areas.”
