TEN EcoCash customers won brand-new cars at the ChakaChaya neEcoCash Grand Draw as competition reached a spectacular climax at the Harare Gardens today.
The colourful Grand Draw brought together thousands of EcoCash customers, families and entertainment lovers to celebrate the conclusion of yet another successful edition of the nationwide promotion, which offered more than US$400 000 worth of prizes.
The 10 vehicles were the biggest prizes up for grabs during the grand finale, truly transforming the lives of the winners, drawn from a diverse cross-section of EcoCash customers who had accumulated qualifying points by transacting throughout the promotion, which started in June this year.
The names of the 10 grand-prize winners announced at the Grand Draw are Faceline Beremauro, Tichawona Michael Mutaurwa, Erica Mutimba, Ivy Makura, Happiness Tutsirai Airosi, Blossom Mtembo, Luckmore Tachiona, Nellie Mhango, Darlington Chivero and Tawanda Marovha.
In addition to the vehicles, thousands of other customers from across the country won a wide range of prizes during the promotion, including solar systems, cash rewards, smartphones, airtime, deep freezers, grocery vouchers and all-expenses-paid holiday trips to Victoria Falls, four of whose winners — Botshelo Peter Bagwasi, Mario Pepa, Bibiana Matambo and Ellis Rangiron — were announced during the Grand Draw.
Now in its eighth year, ChakaChaya has rewarded thousands of customers with prizes ranging from vehicles and livestock to household appliances, airtime and dream holidays since its launch in 2018.
EcoCash said the promotion reflects its commitment to recognising customer loyalty while encouraging wider adoption of convenient digital financial services.
“ChakaChaya has grown into Zimbabwe’s biggest consumer promotion because it places customers at the centre of everything we do,” the company said.
“Millions of Zimbabweans use EcoCash every day to send and receive money, buy airtime, pay bills, receive remittances and make merchant payments. Through ChakaChaya, we are thanking our customers and giving them a chance to win prizes that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.”
Throughout the promotion, customers earned points whenever they transacted using their EcoCash USD or ZiG wallets, with every US$1 or local-currency equivalent earning one point. Customers received double points for diaspora remittances received through EcoCash and qualifying payments made through the EcoCash Super App.
Customers who earned at least 30 points in a week qualified for weekly draws, while those who accumulated 500 points or more automatically entered the Grand Draw.
The promotion was rolled out across more than 30 locations nationwide, including Bulawayo, Masvingo, Gweru, Mutare, Chinhoyi, Chipinge and Mount Darwin, ensuring that customers from different parts of Zimbabwe had opportunities to win.
Weekly draws were independently supervised to promote transparency, with winners notified by SMS and announced through EcoCash’s official digital platforms.
This year’s campaign also supported EcoCash’s drive to expand its digital ecosystem following the introduction of the EcoCash Super App.
New customer registrations and Super App downloads were encouraged through airtime incentives and opportunities to earn additional promotional points.
