NEW: Tobacco selling season begins with optimism

The tobacco marketing season began on Wednesday, with the opening bale sold at US$4,30 per kg, up from US$4 per kg last year, while the lowest price was US$0,90c.

Contract sales, which make up the bulk of the deliveries, will begin tomorrow.

Zimbabwe earned US$780 million from the crop last year.
