THE Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry has been hailed for taking the lead in the development of the tourism sector by partnering with both local and external players.

Speaking during a tour of a new accommodation and tourism facility, Mountain Lake Resort and Spa which is under construction and set to open before year end, Presidential Affairs and Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes Minister, Dr Jorum Gumbo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in his ministry, Mrs Fananai Madambi, said tourism has become one of the fastest growing industries globally and is currently a source of employment and livelihood for many.

“The ministry has played a commendable role in the development of our tourism industry by partnering with both local and external players. This is borne out of the need to accelerate the development of high-end conference venues and hotels across the country. I urge the investors to spread out to other parts of the country, where Government is ready to embrace them by offering various incentives for development,” he said.

The spacious resort and spar has 16 self catering chalets with combined capacity of 96 guests as well as five star conferencing facility which can accommodate 200 participants.

A whooping US$3 million has been invested in the project which is financed by a local company, Grand Homes Property Development Company (G-Tel Zimbabwe).
