AN emergency crew responding to a road traffic accident near Watyoka turn-off along the Harare-Masvingo highway had a hard time finding its way through Mbudzi Roundabout due to a traffic jam on Tuesday night.

The Harare City Council had to enlist the services of police and radio stations to help clear the way for ambulances and the Harare Fire Brigade.

“Harare Fire Brigade is failing to drive past Mbudzi Traffic Circle to attend to an accident at Watyoka/52 turn-off. Motorists not opening access to an emergency,” said council in a statement.

“Police are assisting to get the fire-fighting equipment and ambulances through.

“We appeal to radio stations to help spread the word to their listeners who are part of the congestion.”

Traffic congestion at Mbudzi Roundabout remains a menace, and a Government-backed project to build a traffic interchange is already underway.
