MUTARE-BORN seasoned defender Onismor Bhasera’s team SuperSport United underlined their championship credentials in the South African DStv Premiership clinching their second successive victory since resuming the campaign following the World Cup break.

Bhasera was the star of the show when the teams returned to action last week Friday and as captain led by example after his solitary strike earned the Pretoria-based side maximum points.

The versatile fullback directed his 56th minute header on target to beat fellow Zimbabwean and another veteran of the game Washington Arubi in goals for Marumo Gallants.

It was Bhasera’s second goal of the season.

Matsatsantsa followed up that win with another identical victory over Cape Town City, to catapult them into second position.

The Gavin Hunt-coached side have now amassed 27 points from 14 games and trail defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns by seven points after same number of fixtures.

SuperSport United are one of the in-form teams after winning four of their last five games, sandwiching a single draw.
