Former Big Brother star’s trial took a new twist as the court heard that Wendall Parson was made to pay $1 650 which was to be transferred into Armour Khan Insurance Brokers (Pvt) bank account as insurance premium when the actual premium was just $654.

Testifying in court AK Insurance director Armour Khan told the court that it was simply a genuine error which they later clarified with Alliance Insurance.

Wendall’s lawyer Mr Harrison Nkomo, said the inconsistencies in the figures were an indication that the figures were ‘manufactured’ by AK Insurance to cover up their deceitful dealings.

Nkomo told the court that one of the faxes between AK Insurance brokers and Alliance Insurance was dated April 25, 2012 but the receipt note reflected that it was received on March 18, 2013.

He questioned why a cover for six months showed that it was valid from March to July, which was only four months.

“Those documents were manufactured to cover up and pin my client because he is not aware of the transaction of March 18.
“This was not an error. You made a lot of mistakes because you were hurried, trying to cover up your fraudulent scheme.”

Mr Nkomo asked Khan to produce the response on the issue from Alliance, to which he said he was unable to do as they had communicated through the phone.

During cross examination Khan admitted that Wendall never personally cancelled the insurance cover as it was done through someone identified only as Devon who allegedly was acting on behalf of Wendall’s mother Gillian Jackson.

“Devon phoned on behalf of Gillian Jackson and said they were not ready to take out insurance. He spoke first to my staff and later I called him and he said they had decided they no longer required the cover. By the time of Wendall’s arrest we had not communicated with him on that issue,” said Khan.

State prosecutor Ms Constance Ngombengombe is to lead evidence from the police officer who arrested Wendall as the third State witness. Magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo postponed the matter to today for trial continuation.

Ms Ngombengombe alleges that on March 16 this year, Wendall’s brother, William was involved in an accident while driving the former’s car, a Ford Ranger.

The accident was reported at Borrowdale Police Station and it is alleged that on the day the accident occurred, Wendall’s vehicle was not insured.

Afterwards, it is alleged that Wendall connived with his brother and hatched a plan to defraud Alliance Insurance Pvt Ltd.
On March 18, William allegedly went to the insurance brokers where he applied for insurance for the Ford Ranger together with two other trailers.
