THE case of nine women accused of using social media platforms to advertise illegal massage and sexual services took a new twist today after the accused changed their plea to guilty.
One of the accused’s lawyers, Mrs Concillia Maheya, informed Harare magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo that the accused are now pleading guilty to the charges before she could deliver her ruling on bail.
The accused Natasha Makowe, Anne Mandaza, Ashley Nyamutsaka, Nyasha Mungate, Gamuchirai Dzvukutu, Ellen Chihota, Mola Manyange, Euno Chiwara and Mukhtah Banda face charges under the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act. The women, aged between 18 and 27, are being represented by a team of defence lawyers.
The State has since transferred the case to a trial court, with magistrate Ms Winfilder Tiatara adjourning the matter until tomorrow for plea recording.
