POLICE in Beitbridge have arrested two suspects for smuggling into the country, a Nissan HardBody vehicle, from South Africa.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the suspects, Decent Chowawa and Thomas Tsiga, were arrested in Beitbridge on March 6, 2022, after failing to properly declare the vehicle.

“The suspects were intercepted at a security checkpoint with an imported Nissan Hard Body vehicle,” reads the statement.

“They produced a TIP with another person’s name without an import permit for the vehicle. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was deregistered in South Africa.”

The police urged the public to properly declare all goods entering and exiting the country.
