NEW: Upcoming gospel musician finally gets his break

Online Reporter

UPCOMING gospel musician Tawanda “TM” Munderedza, is beginning to enjoy the fruits of his decades-long toil.

Munderedza, who composed his first song when he was only 10 years old, was at one time a backing vocalist to Mutare-based gospel musician, Mai Mufundisi Sunguro.

After going solo, the Chimanimani-born musician composed and recorded more than 30 songs.

Sadly, for the 34 year-old, none of the songs made it to the top. The musician’s song “Munhu Munhu” became a theme for the Zimbabwe television drama “Tindike” a year ago.

Thanks to the television exposure, TM’s latest project “Nhava,” has so far surpassed expectations.

The song, which tackles life’s daily challenges, has garnered 1 000 views on YouTube within a week.

For an artist who was dismally failing to get recognition, getting 1 000 views can be viewed as a step in the right direction.

“For someone who toiled for many years without realising his dream, I believe that my career is now moving towards the right path,” he said.

“It is not easy for one to have a song being used as a theme song for a popular television drama.”

Added Munderedzwa:

“For me, getting 1 000 views means that my career is headed somewhere. Remember, I am starting from scratch.”

Buoyed by this “success,” Munderedza is currently working on a single titled “Unokwanisa.”
