NEW: Woman raped after being given a lift to Harare

A woman was raped after being offered a lift from Mutare to Harare on Monday. 

The rape incident took place when they got to Harare, along High Glen Road, around 9pm. 

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations are currently underway. 

“Police in Harare are investigating a case of rape which occurred on May 30, 2022 around 9pm along High Glen Road near Marimba New Stands,” reads the statement. 

“The suspect raped the complainant in a Toyota Hilux twin-cab vehicle after giving her a lift from Mutare to Harare. 

“Anyone with information to contact any nearest police station.”
