Two people died in a road traffic accident involving two trucks at Mufusire Uphill along the Mutare-Harare Highway just after midnight yesterday

TWO people died while others were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in overturned after a tyre burst near Wengezi along Mutare-Masvingo Road in the morning of New Year’s Day.

Police confirmed the fatal crash, which occurred in the Rimiti area.

“Police confirm a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at Rimiti area near Wengezi, along Mutare-Masvingo Road on January 1, 2026 in the morning.

“Two people were killed when a Nissan Caravan kombi overturned after one of the vehicle’s tyres burst. The number of the injured victims is yet to be established,” wrote police on their X (formerly Twitter handle).

More details, added the police, will be released in due course.
