NEW: ZACC arrests top official

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Officer Commanding Mashonaland West Province commissioner Conneli Dube on criminal abuse of office.

In a statement on Tuesday, on its Twitter handle, ZACC confirmed the arrest.

“A high ranking ZRP (Zimbabwe Republic Police) officer, Commissioner C. Dube who is the officer commanding Mashonaland West Province has been arrested on allegations of abuse of office.

“He is alleged to have ordered that no action be taken on CID operatives arrested on a bribery case,” said ZACC.
