THE Zanu PF leadership in Matabeleland South has said it has covered enough ground ahead of Saturday’s by-elections.
Zanu PF Mat South Women’s League chairperson, Cde Sindisiwe Nleya, on Tuesday said they were expecting nothing other than a clean sweep.
“We have covered a lot of ground and the whole provincial leadership is fully behind all our candidates and we resolved to conduct peaceful campaigns,” said Cde Nleya.
“We urge our party members to remain peaceful, and from what we are seeing on the ground all our candidates will win in all the local authorities by-elections.”
Zanu PF’s Mat South vice-chairperson, Cde Albert Nguluvhe said:
“We resolved as the leadership to support all the DCCs so that our candidates will do well in by-elections. As for Beitbridge, we are confident that the residents will correct the mistakes they made by voting for the opposition candidates who have failed on the service delivery aspect.”
He said under the opposition councilors, service delivery had deteriorated to its lowest in the country’s fastest-growing town.
Cde Nguluvhe said it was important for voters to open their eyes and elect into office those with the capacity to deliver.
Ward 4 candidate (Beitbridge Municipality), Cde Lawrence Tshili, said when elected into office, he will make sure that all the service delivery challenges he had noted from residents during door-to-door campaigns are expeditiously attended to.
His counterpart for Ward 5, Cde Showa Moyo said:
“Fixing the perennial water and sewer reticulation challenges and the upgrading of roads, which are in bad shape will be top of my priority list.
In fact, we must enhance issues of corporate governance at Beitbridge Municipality.”
