A RESOUNDING victory is certain for the ruling party in Manicaland’s urban constituencies, ZANU PF provincial political commissar, Cde Albert Nyakuedzwa has said.
Speaking while officiating at the Mutare Central Constituency’s official campaign launch held at Sakubva Beit Hall this morning, Cde Nyakuedzwa said the developments that have been spearheaded by the ruling party under the leadership of President Mnangagwa speaks volumes of his able leadership and that urban voters will vote him, his legislators and candidates into power.
“This is a different Mutare Central which will make a difference come August 23. Our urban seats are coming back to the ruling party because people have opened their eyes. They now know the right party and candidates to vote for. What President Mnangagwa and all aspiring candidates including Cde Isau Mupfumi have been doing is evident that the people are for him and against him,” said Cde Nyakuedzwa.
In an interview, Central Committe member, Cde Getrude Mutandi said Cde Mupfumi will bring back the Mutare Central Constituency seat to the ruling party.
“People in cities and towns are tired of being under opposition legislators’ rule. After voting them into power, they are not delivering anything. Service delivery has gone to the dogs within our urban councils.
“Opposition councils do not collect bins and it has become a norm that burst sewerages flow daily. We have reliable water sources in Manicaland, but we have erratic supplies,” she said.
Addressing the same gathering, the party’s aspiring candidate for Mutare Central Constituency, Cde Mupfumi said his vision is to develop the constituency and restore adequate service delivery in the city.

“We will all go and vote for President Mnangagwa and the party because we have seen the developments that he has spearheaded in the short space of time that he has been in power. Mutare Central has refused to remain in the hands of the opposition and we will prove this on August 23. Because the power of the party is in the people, we will vote in our numbers and win resoundingly,” he said.
Cde Mupfumi also capped 600 people who graduated with Community Based Care certificates after undergoing the course that was superintended by the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society.
The 600 underwent a vigorous training, with Cde Mupfumi bearing all the costs.
A beneficiary, Mr Brighton Mangwaira thanked the party for empowering them with the knowledge and skills on community based care.
“We are very thankful because we did not have the money to take up this course by ourselves. However, because of President Mnangagwa and Cde Mupfumi, we have been empowered with knowledge and can now take care of the elderly and sick in our communities,” he said.
Cde Mupfumi also donated laptops to vulnerable children.
