Nqobile Magwizi will lead the newly-elected ZIFA Board that was ushered in following an election held in Harare this afternoon.
The Harare businessman becomes the first ZIFA president after the dissolution of the Felton Kamambo-led executive in November 2021 with the country placed under FIFA administration since June 2023.
Prior to that, Zimbabwe was under FIFA suspension.
And the elections were much-awaited with all eyes on who would be selected by the 77 councillors to lead the association.
Magwizi was the outright favourite and duly romped to victory after picking 80 percent of the vote.
Phillemon Machana was a distant second with Twine Phiri on third while Marshal Gore and Makwinji Phiri who failed to get a single vote were fourth and fifth respectively.
One of the front-runners before the election, Martin Kweza withdrew his candidature just before the election citing personal reasons.
Loveness Mukura and Kenny Ndebele will deputize Magwizi after doing well in their race where they managed to garner significant nominations to outwit their more experienced contestants.
Alice Zeure, Tafadzwa Benza, Davison Muchena, Thomas Marambanyika, Brighton Ushendibaba and Kudzai Kadzombe took the available six slots on the board coming off in a strong field of 39 contestants.
