Zimbabwe will continue to implement information communication technology (ICT)-related advances in agriculture to improve the country’s food security, ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere has said.

He was speaking at the launch of the Smart Agriculture Blueprint in Harare.

The country, he said, is working to modernise local agricultural systems through the adoption of smart agriculture initiatives.

“Zimbabwe is an agriculture-based economy; therefore, as we develop the country, our agricultural systems too must transition and develop,” he said.

“As we modernise the country, our agricultural practices should be modernised, too.

“There is no better way of modernising the agricultural sector, and any other sector for that matter, than through ICTs.”
