Online Reporter

ZIMBABWE Under-19 skipper and Lady Chevrons’ all-rounder Kelis Ndhlovu has made it to the auction list for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which is a Twenty20 cricket franchise league in India.

Owned and operated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tournament is slated for March 4 to 26, with all matches scheduled to be played in Mumbai at Brabourne Stadium and Navi Mumbai at DY Patil Stadium.

Ndhlovu is among 10 other Lady Chevrons players to make the auction list, and these include Ashley Ndiraya, Audrey Mazvishaya, Chipo Mugeri Tiripano, Josephine Nkomo, Loryn Phiri, Mary Anne Musonda, Modester Mupachikwa, Nomvelo Sibanda, Precious Marange and Sharne Mayers.

The WPL is the sister league of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has a similar structure.

The initial player auction to purchase players through open bidding and determine the squads for each franchise will take place on February 13.

At least 1500 players registered their names to take part in the auction, and each franchise must purchase between 15 and 18 players, seven of whom can be overseas players.

In each match, a team may include a maximum of five overseas players, one of whom must be from an associate nation.
