ZIMBABWE and Spain are set to deepen bilateral ties in the tourism sector after Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere announced during a post-Cabinet media briefing that the agreement seeks to enhance cooperation in key tourism areas, including digital marketing, destination development, product diversification and sustainable tourism initiatives.
Dr Muswere said the MoU is designed to help Zimbabwe strengthen its global tourism appeal by tapping into Spain’s vast experience as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.
“By entering into this memorandum of understanding, the two countries will also be strengthening their subsisting cordial relations,” he said.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi said the decision was motivated by the growing number of visitors coming from Spain into Zimbabwe.
She also said that just like Zimbabwe, Spain’s tourism sector is largely based on gastronomy.
