Zimbabwe is on schedule to complete all preparations before the official opening of the Expo 2025 Osaka on April 13, a top official has said.

Set to be held from April 13 to October 13 in Japan next year, the event will draw participants from over 150 countries, providing a golden opportunity for the country to showcase its economic potential.

Zimbabwe expects to clinch major deals at the global expo in trade and tourism. The expo has also been touted as a key platform to help nations achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking from Himeji, Japan, where he is attending the International Participants Meeting (IPM) for Expo 2025 Osaka, ZimTrade chief executive officer Mr Allan Majuru said: “So this is our last meeting before the event starts on April 13 and everything is going according to plan.

“I think the organisers are facilitating for us to put our best foot forward and the good thing is we are putting in place a pavilion that will help Zimbabwe actualise its aspirations. Our focus is going to be on promoting tourism, trade and investment. Remember, we are focused on trading and investing.”

Mr Majuru, who is also the Commissioner General of Zimbabwe’s Pavilion said the country has set specific goals to achieve at the expo.

“We are quite confident that as a country we are going to come back with massive returns focusing on trade, tourism and investment,” he said.

Mr Majuru highlighted that the expo will serve as a crucial platform for Zimbabwe to showcase its offerings to the world, learn from international best practices and enhance its business engagement strategies.

“Business is about understanding each other’s cultures,” he said, emphasising the importance of mutual learning and collaboration.

“We believe that by the end of the expo in October, we will be able to conduct a thorough evaluation and share our successes with the people of Zimbabwe.”

The Expo 2025 Osaka, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” is expected to attract millions of visitors from around the globe. Zimbabwe’s participation aims to showcase the country’s unique cultural heritage, natural resources, and investment opportunities to a global audience.
