THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) intends to recruit additional medical and veterinary doctors to strengthen its health services, with successful candidates set to be attested at the rank of Superintendent.
In a statement, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the force requires doctors in general practice and veterinary medicine or animal health.
Applicants must be Zimbabwean citizens aged 35 years or younger, physically and medically fit, and of good background with no previous criminal convictions.
They must also be prepared to serve and be deployed to any province in Zimbabwe under Police Service conditions and be willing to undergo a compulsory three-month organisational induction upon attestation.
Commissioner Nyathi outlined the doctors’ responsibilities, which include treating ex-members, police officers and their dependants, conducting medical examinations of police recruits and members undergoing selection for United Nations duties, as well as delivering lectures to officers and their dependants on health-related matters.
He said the doctors’ professional conduct would be governed by the Medical and Dental Council Act, while their discipline as officers would fall under the Police Act and Regulations.
