NEW: Zimbabwe, Uganda youths exchange notes on agriculture

 Online Reporter

Youths from Zimbabwe and Uganda last week had an opportunity to exchange notes on taking advantage of value chains in agriculture at a meeting held in the East African country.

With economies in the two countries anchored on agriculture, the two governments saw it fit to exchange notes on how young people are being mainstreamed in the sector.

Chief youth programmes coordinator on the Agriculture Youth Desk in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Mr Nickros Kajengo, who was part of the delegation, said: “What we realised is young people in both countries were taking advantage of the conducive climatic, economic and political environments that have been created for them by the two governments to be empowered.

“So, in terms of the hubs being implemented in Uganda, definitely they had to copy a lot from us because we do not take agriculture from a one-line perspective since the sector is multi-faceted.

“It’s the holistic strategy that we shared with them in Uganda. Since our engagement, we are receiving calls almost every day from the officials in Uganda requesting to also visit us.”
