NEW: Zina vice-president Tembo dies

THE netball fraternity was on Thursday evening plunged into mourning following the passing of Zimbabwe Netball Association (Zina) vice-president, Christopher Tembo. 

He was 70. 

Tembo succumbed to a long illness. 

He will be buried in Murehwa on Saturday. 

The former Zina vice-president has been in netball for more than five decades, working under the presidency of Alice Mutema, Ledwin Dondo and now Leticia Chipandu. 

He is survived by his wife Morah and seven children. 

Besides netball, the former administrator was an employee of the Zimbabwe Football Association (1999-2003). 

He jumped ship to netball in 2003, and has been vice-president of the association for the last ten years.
