NEW: Zinwa warns of fraudsters

Online Reporter

The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has warned Hwange residents to be on the lookout for fraudsters who are taking advantage of the ongoing installation of prepaid water meters in the mining town to fleece them.

In a statement, Zinwa said the fraudsters are masquerading as Zinwa employees.

“Zinwa has learnt that there are individuals in Hwange who are taking advantage of the ongoing installation of prepaid meters to fleece residents of their money on the pretext that they will assist in the relocation of old meters to places the new meters can be installed,” reads the statement.

“The said individuals are charging a fee for that and preparing lists of requirements for clients to buy. They are also misleading residents that Zinwa will be charging US$80 for the service.”
