NEW: Zupco reviews fares

THE Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Zupco) has reviewed upwards bus and commuter omnibus fares. 

The new fares, which come into effect on September 1, will see fares to routes more than doubling. 

“For buses, the fares have been raised to RTGS$300 from $140 for distances of up to 20km, $400 from $180 (for distances between 21km and 30km) and $550 from $220 (for distances between 31km and 40km),” said Zupco in a statement. 

Passengers who use Zupco commuter omnibuses (kombis) will fork out $400 for distances of up to 20km and $550 for distances between 21km and 30km. 

The previous fares were $220 and $260 respectively.
