NEWBORN BABY DUMPED AT TOLLGATE: Mum (35) arrested after walking away from healthy baby

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman has been cuffed after allegedly dumping her newborn in the bush near a busy tollgate in Bubi.
Police confirmed the arrest of Patience Chivesera of Beitbridge, who is accused of concealment of birth after abandoning the day-old infant in the Chapfuche area.
According to the police statement, the baby was discovered dumped in a bushy patch close to Chapfuche Tollgate before being rushed for treatment.

“On 29/08/25, Police in Beitbridge arrested Patience Chivesera (35) for concealment of birth in Bubi. The suspect allegedly gave birth to a baby and dumped the day-old infant in a bushy area near Chapfuche Tollgate. The baby has since been taken to Beitbridge District Hospital for medical care and further management,” said police.
Chivesera is expected to appear in court soon.
