THEY are newboys in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League but, because of their ambitious owner and name, they are already attracting considerable attention.

Businessman and legislator Scott Sakupwanya is the owner of the new side, Scotland, who are based in his Mabvuku constituency.

Scott already has interest in Premiership side Yadah and has been sponsoring motocross.

Now, he has invested in his community club, which used to be called Mabvuku United, and has now been renamed Scotland.

They won their first game, away to Zambezi Gas and Coal, and are now set for their second match against Lloyd Mutasa’s MWOS, who are one of the favourites for the title.

The match is set for the Heart Stadium in Waterfalls tomorrow.

Scotland coach, William Nyasulu, believes they have what it takes to compete against MWOS.

“We are very happy that we managed to start our campaign with a win away from home to Zambezi Gas and Coal, which was a difficult game.

“We will be playing at home and I believe we will utilise our home advantage.

“We respect MWOS, as they have been in the league before, us but we are now playing at par.

“I’m happy that the boys managed to play very well but now we will be facing one of the big teams in the league, MWOS, who have an experienced coach in Lloyd Mutasa.”

He added:

“We understand how difficult the game is going to be but I’m very positive that we will equally fight for maximum points.

“For us to show our seriousness in the league, we have to win such big games.

“If we are to win, I’m sure it will send a clear message to other teams that we are here not to add numbers.”

The other match tomorrow will see Herentals Under-20 taking on PAM at Motor Action.
