A NEWLY assembled imbube band, Ithokazi Lejongosi, is set to drop two singles tomorrow at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

Director of the group, Sis Titi said she approached Ijongosi to assist with the idea of dropping a singles album which led to the merger.

“After I approached Ijongosi with the idea of dropping a singles album, we then decided to form a group and name it Ithokazi Lejongosi.

“The first track Xolani Bafowethu is about encouraging our fellow youngsters that they have don’t have to forsake their roots which are inclined to the imbube genre. Of course other genres have come of age, but that does not mean one has to lose their roots for new things. Sicela’ Mandla is an imbube gospel song which appreciates the talent endowed by the group,” said Sis Titi.

Sis Titi said the launch will see attendees being offered free traditional meals.

“The launch will be held on Saturday, only the first 50 people to come will be allowed into the venue as per the lockdown regulations.

“The audience will also be subject to free traditional meals that include umhwaba, umxhanxa and inkobe as a way of promoting our culture,” said Sis Titi. — @mthabisi_mthire
