The newly formed Dzimbahwe Nengoma Arts Ensemble from Mashonaland Central province is setting its sights on victory in the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival, following their recent triumph at the provincial finals.
In Mashonaland Central, Dzimbahwe Nengoma Arts Ensemble, based in Bindura, clinched first place with their captivating performance of the Chinyambera dance. They outshone competitors such as Chinyakare Arts from Guruve, who performed the Dinhe dance, and Shamva Benari from Shamva, securing third place with their Beni dance.
Founder Farai Meki highlighted that the group aims to bring a fresh perspective to the dance arena and is determined to claim the championship.
“Established in 2024, our group was inspired by observing young people involved in drug and substance abuse. We formed this ensemble to empower youth, discover, nurture, and showcase the hidden talents of traditional dancers in Mashonaland Central province.
“We are a focused, determined, hardworking, and innovative group. Our goal is to introduce a lesser-known dance style to the province. We plan to conduct intensive training camps, continue researching, and seek guidance from seasoned dance experts,” Meki explained.
