TWICE Ngezi Platinum took the lead, but Hardrock kept on coming back from behind in a match that ended 2-2 at Chahwanda yesterday.
It was explosive.
In the end, Ngezi Platinum were satisfied by the draw while Hardrock admitted it was points dropped on a day they gave away goals.
Malvin Gaki opened the score sheet in the 25th minute, tapping in a square pass from Tinotenda Murasiranwa.
Hardrock captain Munyaradzi Diro Nyenye levelled the scores with a header from Tinashe Mashaireni’s corner kick after the break.
Moments later Diro Nyenye turned villain after he made a wrong pass, trying to make a square pass across the field which was intercepted by Gaki.
Arshwin Karengesha made no mistake scoring from the edge of the box.
Washinton Navaya restored parity in the 82nd minute after receiving a long ball from Misheck Ngwenya. He beat Darlington Murasiranwa in goals for Ngezi.
Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva was happy with how his charges tried to collect all three points.
“It was a tricky and difficult game playing Hardrock at their fortress. But we managed to hold on and took the lead. We were good in keeping possession and applying our game well,” Mutiwekuziva said.
Hardrock coach Kelvin Kaindu said: “From the start we knew it was one of our biggest games, there are still games to lose in the league.
“They are mobile . . . . The disadvantage we had is we gave away possession twice, and they scored. We did not defend well, but we showed resilience and came back twice from behind to draw.
“After making those mistakes, picking a point is fair. We made a number of mistakes which we need to work on going forward.”
