HOSTS Ngezi Platinum Stars put up a glittering show as they powered their way into the Chibuku Cup quarter-finals at the Baobab yesterday. So good was the show that coach Tonderai Ndiraya immediately sent a warning to the team that will be drawn against his lads in the next round.
“We will give that team a good run for its money,” said Ndiraya who watched with satisfaction as a Terrence Dzukamanja double and a Donald Teguru effort ushered his team through.
Dzukamanja gave the home side the lead in the fifth minute but Hwange restored parity a few minutes after the breather through Gilbert Zulu.
Dzukamanja popped up on the score sheet again in the 65th minute before Teguru secured victory with 12 minutes to play.
“It was a great all round performance from the team,” added Ndiraya.
“We are new boys in this league and we played seasoned campaigners as we got our first taste of a top flight cup competition.
“I am happy for the boys, I am happy for the community because this result really means a lot to them.
“However, we are not getting carried away. We will take it each game as it comes but once thing we can promise is we will put a good fight in every match we play.”
