NGEZI Platinum Stars started their visit to Zambia on a losing note when they fell to Lusaka Dynamos in an international friendly at Nkoloma yesterday. Mbaka Pikoyi’s 19th minute goal was all the hosts needed to win the match. Pikoyi won possession and made his way past Godknows Murwira who had slipped in a bid to clear. The dread-locked striker then slotted the ball past Tinashe Matore who had come out of his line to try and narrow the angle.

The Chibuku Cup winners threw everything they had and Kelvin Bulaji was unlucky to see his header missing the target with goalkeeper Monga Ndala a well-beaten man.

Coach Tonderai Ndiraya, who fielded a number of his fringe players in the starting XI, was then forced to make changes.

Mohammed Fathy the technical director at Lusaka Dynamos was impressed by Ngezi.

“They are a very good team and we are lucky that we survived .I am very sure they will progress,” said the Egyptian.

“They have everything and I like their never-say-die spirit.”

Gift Muzadzi the assistant coach was also impressed.

“Everything went according to plan and we are very impressed by our performance. It was not about results, but we are preparing for our Confederation Cup match next weekend.

“We managed to see the physical side and we were given a very good game,” said Muzadzi.

After the match Zanaco chairman was forced to request for a friendly match after TP Mazembe cancelled their trip yesterday.

The match is still, however, to be confirmed by the Ngezi executive.

Ngezi will play Red Arrows this afternoon
