NGO hails new dispensation

A NON-GOVERNMENTAL organisation based in Mashonaland Central, the Institute for Young Women Development has applauded the new dispensation led by President Mnangagwa for creating a conducive environment for women to participate in politics.

In an interview, IYWD coordinator, Mr Kudakwashe Munemo, said although a few women participated in the just ended Zanu-PF primary elections, he was hopeful that the prevailing environment would allow for more women to participate freely in politics.

This follows President Mnangagwa’s recent meeting with women from all walks of life where the organisation also participated and deliberated on a number of issues affecting them.

“As an organisation that represents young women, we are impressed with the new dispensation for creating this political environment, which I am sure will continue to ensure that women participate freely in politics from now onwards,” he said.

“We are, however, concerned about the low participation of women in the just ended Zanu-PF and MDC primary elections,” he said.
