Two local non-governmental organisations have joined hands to coordinate efforts to clean up the environment.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) Zimbabwe and Let’s Do It Zimbabwe recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding designed to tackle the country’s poor waste management.
JCI Zimbabwe president Dr Xolani Ndlovu told The Herald in an interview after the signing ceremony on Monday that the people needed to join hands in creating a healthy environment.
“A clean environment is everyone’s responsibility, which is achievable if we join hands and work towards a common goal,” he said.
“We have decided to partner with Let’s Do It Zimbabwe because we share the same vision of making the environment a better and healthier place for everyone.”
The two organisations, Dr Ndlovu said, would soon embark on a clean-up campaign and mobilise citizens to participate in the World Clean-up Day scheduled for September 15.
Let’s Do It Zimbabwe country leader Ms Marian Karumazondo said her organisation and JCI Zimbabwe shared common goals, hence, the MoU.
“Let it be everyone’s responsibility to create a clean environment, if not for ourselves, then for our children,” she said.
