The golfer had last won the Matabeleland Amateur championships and found himself playing second fiddle to Scott Vincent and other golfers.
But he got it right in the Midlands.
Nguru reserved his best for last as he recovered from a four-shot deficit to overhaulpacesetter Bret Krog.
The first two rounds saw Nguru finish on a gross 155 before he carded 78 and 73 on Sunday to come out tops and take the championship.
“It has been long since I won a tournament and the game was so challenging but I managed to make it,” said Nguru.
“The field was one of the biggest and the course was so challenging.
“I think the good form will continue in the next games and I am so happy.”
Chapman players dominated the show with Emanuel Hungwe taking second place.
Hungwe carded 81, 76, 78 and 75.
The golfer is improving with every outing and could be the next big hit in the amateur ranks.
Bata Power, which is the biggest amateur tournament in the Midlands, was a competitive affair. Kyle Mandhu, who was in second place after the first two rounds, finished third. Krog shot a disappointing 81 and 81 on the last day to finish in fourth place.
In-form Rowland Park Golf Club player Mike Madhodha was fifth.
