Nguru wins in Kadoma

But he came good in Kadoma where he carded rounds of 70, 77, 74 and 74 to win the third high-profile event of the season.
A total of 46 players took to the field in the event that carriers some order of merit points.

Nguru, who has been tipped to take over from Scott Vincent as the dominant player among the amateurs, has struggled to live up to that billing.
But, in Kadoma, he proved a class apart and his case was helped, to some extent, by the absence of Ben Follet-Smith who was in South Africa.
Former professional Barry Painting finished third.

Tournament co-ordinator, Boniface Chigorimbo, said he was touched by the high level of competition.
“The levels of competition exhibited were very high and it was difficult to predict who will win the event as the field had some good golfers,” said Chigorimbo.
“We are having more tournaments this season which is good for the players.

Each province will, at least, host two tournaments before the end of the year.
“We also look forward to having a strong team for the Zone VI so the players are showing they are in very good shape.”

Meanwhile, Micky Hough managed to make his first cut at the Telkom PGA Championships at Country Club in Johannesburg at the weekend.
The Zimbabwean managed rounds of 73, 70, 72 and 76.

Hough finished tied with South Africa’s Johan du Buisson to pocket R7, 275, his first cheque of the season.
