IT is a moment of celebration for Ngwana villagers as a clinic they have worked for years to build is officially opened today, bringing health services closer to the community.
Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Slaiman Kwindini, who is representing the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Douglas Mombeshora, is officiating at the ceremony.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Mangaliso Ndlovu, who was the area’s Member of Parliament when construction of the clinic began, is also attending the event.
Other dignitaries include ICT Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuthi and Bulilima legislator and Zanu PF Politburo member Richard Ndlovu.

The clinic, which cost US$185 000 (R2.9 million), was built through a community-driven initiative, with local residents providing labour and funding contributed by people from the area living in the diaspora.

Government also supported the project through devolution funds.

The new facility is expected to reduce the distances villagers travel to access healthcare services.
Several other clinics are being built by local communities in the district, with projects at different stages of completion. Recently, a number of completed clinics were commissioned, helping to improve access to healthcare.
